Boules / Pétanque

Objective: Be the first to score 13 points.

Players: 2 to 4.

  • Each player/team selects a pair of matching balls.
  • Mark a circle (35–50 cm in diameter) on the ground to throw from. One foot must remain inside the circle while throwing.
  • Toss a coin to decide who throws the small target ball (*Cachonet*).
  • Players take turns throwing their balls, aiming to land closest to the *Cachonet*.
  • The closest ball wins the round, scoring 1 point. Additional points are awarded for each extra ball closer than the opponent’s closest ball.
  • After each round, players change ends before the next throw.
  • The game continues until a player/team reaches 13 points.

Tic-Tac-Toe

Objective: Get 3 marks in a row.

Players: 2.

  • One player is ‘X’, the other is ‘O’.
  • Players take turns placing their marks in an empty square.
  • The first player to line up 3 marks in a row wins.
  • If all 9 squares are filled with no winner, the game restarts.

Giant Jenga

Objective: Keep building the tower without making it fall.

Players: 2 or more.

  • Stack the blocks in alternating layers of three.
  • Players take turns removing a block (except from the top two rows) and placing it on top.
  • Use only one hand and tap blocks to find a loose one.
  • The game ends when the tower collapses. The player who caused the fall loses.

Battle Blocks / Finska

Objective: Be the first to score exactly 50 points.

Players: 2 or more.

  • Arrange the numbered pins in a cluster and mark a throwing line 3-4m away.
  • Players take turns throwing the *throwing log* underarm at the pins.
  • Scoring:
    • Knock over 1 pin = earn the number on that pin.
    • Knock over multiple pins = earn 1 point per pin.
  • If a player/team fails to knock down any pins 3 turns in a row, they are eliminated.
  • If a player/team goes over 50 points, their score resets to 25.

Cornhole

Objective: Be the first team to reach or exceed 21 points.

Players: 2 to 4.

  • Set up cornhole boards 8m apart.
  • Players/teams throw bags toward the opposite board, alternating turns.
    • 3 points for a bag in the hole.
    • 1 point for a bag that stays on the board.
    • 0 points for a bag that lands on the ground.
  • Once all bags have been thrown, teams swap ends and repeat.
  • Only one team scores per inning. The team with the higher score each inning keeps their score, while the other team scores 0.
  • Play continues until the first team reaches or exceeds 21 points.

Croquet

Objective: Be the first player or team to successfully hit your ball through the course of hoops and hit the finishing peg.

Players: 2 to 6.

  • Each player selects a ball color and takes turns hitting their ball using the mallet.
  • Players navigate their ball through the hoops in the correct sequence.
  • If a player successfully hits their ball through a hoop, they earn an extra shot.
  • The game continues until one player completes the full course and hits the final peg to win.

Mikado (Pick-Up Sticks)

Objective: Earn the most points by carefully removing sticks from the pile without disturbing the others.

Players: 2 or more.

  • Hold the bundle of sticks upright and let them drop randomly to create a pile.
  • Players take turns picking up one stick at a time without moving any other sticks.
  • If any other stick moves during a turn, the player’s turn ends.
  • Each stick has a different point value based on its color or markings.
  • The player with the highest score at the end wins.

Dominoes

Objective: Be the first player to play all your tiles or score the highest points by the end of the game.

Players: 2 to 4.

  • Each player starts with an equal number of domino tiles.
  • The first player places a domino tile face up in the center.
  • Players take turns matching one end of their tile to an open end on the board.
  • If a player can’t make a move, they must pick up a new tile from the remaining pile.
  • The game ends when a player has no tiles left or no moves are possible.
  • Players count their remaining tile values, and the lowest score wins.
